The best thing about email subscribe lists these days is that they can keep pestering you even after you’ve asked them to stop.
Here’s the bottom of this email sent from eBay on December 15th, which says “Please note that it may take up to 10 days to process your request.” No. That is simply not true. If I had to mail in a card that said stop sending me junk mail, THAT would take a few days or weeks. But I guarantee there is not a single human being who has to click through all the unsubscribe requests. It is INSTANT AND AUTOMATIC! They are purposefully delaying my unsubscription in order to send me more emails that I will delete without reading.
eBay is even more clever than most though, because it turns out that if you want to unsubscribe from ALL eBay emails, you have to go into your account and uncheck four different boxes, each for a different type of email message!
Of course, I received a new eBay promotional email this morning.
I fell even more in love with Modcloth when I unsubscribed from their email list (because I was getting two a DAY from them, and deleting them all was becoming annoying and having it shoved in my face that I couldn’t really afford anything right now was getting depressing) and they actually gave me an option to choose how often I received emails from them. So now I only have to feel sad about not having a pretty new dress every two weeks!
Also, Radioshack, how in the hell did you even get my email address and why did it take you 6 weeks to finally honor my unsubscribe?! I’ve never bought anything from you and now I certainly never will.
